Documentary: Ukraine – Masks of revolution. Eng. Subs

French TV Channel Released Maidan Documentary Despite Kiev’s Protest in February 2016.

This french mainstream media (Canalplus) has broken the western propaganda barrier and decided to reveal the truth about the Ukrainian coup and the US and EU role in supporting the fascist Nazi battalions in Ukraine that have murdered over 10,000 ethnic Russian civilians in Donbass.

The Ukrainian regime has attempted to get France to stop the transmission of the broadcast, however, demand is so strong in France that it is currently being aired on television for a second time this week.

Ukraine’s authorities have urged  the French broadcaster to take the documentary  off the air. They claim the movie misrepresents Maidan events, and have a list of their own suggestions for what needs to be shown!

European Parliament Member Jean-Luc Schaffhauser said that Ukraine cannot be called a democratic and legal state until it holds those responsible for the atrocities in Odessa, and for the terrorist attacks on the electricity supply lines between Ukraine and Crimea accountable.

Even french journals as Le Monde doubled the pressure on Canal+. Paul Moreira has calmly and respectfully responded to his critics by a detailed post find below. To the credit of Canal Plus’ management, the documentary was screened in time.

According to the New York Times, “The United States and the European Union have embraced the revolution here as another flowering of democracy, a blow to authoritarianism and kleptocracy in the former Soviet space.” ( After Initial Triumph, Ukraine’s Leaders Face Battle for Credibility,, March 1, 2014, emphasis added)

“Flowering Democracy, Revolution”?  The grim realities are otherwise. What is a stake is a US-EU-NATO sponsored coup d’Etat in blatant violation of international law.

In February 2014, paramilitary groups fought against the police in the streets of Kyev and ousted President Yanukovych. They settled a new government.

According to western media, they were the revolution heroes. They fought on the right side. No-one really wondered who they were. Who in part were  extreme-right militias. And they are now heavily armed.

The Right Sector, Azov or Svoboda created parallel irregular forces that easily go out of control. .The film shines a bright light on the massacre carried out by ultra-right forces at the House of Trade Unions in the multinational port city of Odessa on May 2, 2014, where at least 48 anti-fascists and trade unionists were brutally murdered. A massacre that didn’t get much attention in the west.

How come western democracies haven’t raised their voice in protest?

Most likely because these Ukrainian nationalist militias actually played a significant role in a much larger scale war.  The forbidden truth is that the West has engineered –through a carefully staged covert operation– the formation of a proxy regime integrated by Neo-Nazis.

The film’s broadcast marks an important breakthrough against the two-year conspiracy of lies and censorship by Western media and governments denying or ignoring the role of armed neo-Nazis and right-wing nationalists in Ukraine’s so-called “revolution of dignity.”

One of the film’s great strengths — though it makes for difficult viewing — is that it allows the neo-Nazis and supporters of the Kiev regime to indict themselves through interviews, juxtaposed with footage shot at the scene.

The filmmaker, Paul Moreira, has responded to the accusations, saying his film was “contrary to the commonly accepted narrative” but the reaction still shocked him.

“I knew I was going to meet a strong opposition, would be accused of playing into the hands of Putin, of using elements of propaganda. I didn’t expect to meet such denial, bordering on hysteria… I was called a ‘terrorist’ in the pay of the Russian secret services. [They are] urging that the film be banned.

“Even the Ukrainian ambassador pressured Canal Plus. That is what surprises me the most. For it seems to me that Ukraine must urgently raise the question of these paramilitary groups. They are, as stated in the film, the greatest threat to Ukrainian democracy.”

Moreira also lets anti-fascists give their perspective — something they are denied in Ukraine where their views are banned and criminalized.

Among those interviewed are Fatima Papura, mother of Vadim, a teenager and member of the Communist Youth who was the youngest victim of the May 2 massacre; and Alexey Albu, former Odessa Regional Council deputy and a leader of the revolutionary Marxist organization Union Borotba (Struggle), who survived the massacre and was subsequently forced into exile.

Though focused on the Odessa events, Moreira’s film also exposes the role of the Western imperialist powers, especially the United States, in the February 2014 coup in Kiev. Shown is the collaboration of U.S. and European Union officials with known fascists in overthrowing the legally elected government of President Victor Yanukovich.

Complete English- and Russian-dubbed versions appeared online after the French broadcast. Both were immediately censored by YouTube!!
