Perspectives of the Algerian Oil & Natural Gas exports’ market


Algeria is one of the top gas supplier to Europe. Its economy is heavily dependent on hydrocarbons exports, and the OPEC member has been struggling to boost production to offset the fall in oil prices.

Algeria’s new energy minister Noureddine Bouterfa has said that Sonatrach foresees an increase in its oil and gas production in the order of 30% by 2020, reported state news agency APS. “Efforts are being deployed in order to reach this objective within the targeted schedule,” he said on July 18 at Hassi Messaoud, the country’s largest oil field. Suspect Jihadists Launch Rocket Attacks at Algerian Gas Plant


The plant was operated by Statoil and BP.

BP, la ‘major’ petro-gazière britannique, confirme qu’à sa connaissance, personne n’a été blessé lors de l’attaque du site gazier d’In Salah, dans le Sud algérien, visé par des tirs de roquette aux environs de 6 heures (heure locale) ce matin. Par précaution, la principale unité industrielle du complexe a été mise à l’arrêt.
Comme celui d’In Amenas, qui a subi une prise d’otages meurtrière en janvier 2013, l’actif gazier d’In Salah est exploité par une coentreprise rassemblant la Sonatrach, la société nationale algérienne des hydrocarbures, BP et Statoil.

L’attaque a été confirmée par la compagnie norvégienne, qui évoque des « projectiles tirés de loin », et affirme que ses trois employés étaient « sains et saufs », ainsi que par BP, qui dit avoir été informé d’une attaque à la roquette qui n’a pas fait de victime.
